ABOUT spiti valley:

spiti valley is a city in Maharashtra and is the second-largest in the state. spiti valley is becoming popular among people for exploration and vacations. As connected by Sahyadri mountain, it makes a perfect destination for travelling. People are planning to spend more time with nature than in cities. Spiti valley is in Himachal Pradesh. It is at an altitude of 12,500ft and one of the coldest places in India. It only gets sunshine for hardly 250 out of 365 days. The mountains are covered in thick snow for almost six months. Spiti means “The Middle land ” because Spiti valley separates India and Tibet. HOW TO REACH SPITI VALLEY:

Surrounded by mountains, rivers and forests, Spiti is the most remote place in Himachal Pradesh. It does not have an airport or a railway station facility yet. You can only travel by road through Kullu and Shimla. Spiti doesn’t have an airport of its own, so Kullu airport is the nearest airport. Flights to Kullu are available from Mumbai. The rest distance is to be covered by road. The total distance to Spiti from Kullu is 78km. Enjoying the mountain routes to Spiti is very beautiful by road. From Mumbai to Spiti valley is 2162km, which is a very long distance to cover by road.

ABOUT THE PLACES:

  • Chandratal Lake: 

Chandratal lake is at an altitude of 14,220ft and is one of the highest altitudes in the Himalayas. It is at a distance of 27km away from Spiti Valley. This location is a perfect combination of pure wild nature and adventure. During winter, the temperature is below 0 and even -40 degrees, prefers not to visit. The winter is harsh here due to snowfalls and landslides, is closed to visitors. You can stay at Beachfront resort Rocky Point to give a refreshing break.

 

  • Kunzum Pass:

 Kunzum Pass is at an altitude of 15,060ft and presents a very breathtaking sight to experience. It is in the Kunzum range in the Himalayas. This pass is especially for risk-taker and bikers who want a thrill in the expeditions. It is one of the most elevated motorbikes passes in India. This pass link between the Spiti valley and Lahaul valley. Visiting is prohibited during winter and monsoon for safety reasons. The route becomes slippery and dangerous to ride.

 

  • Pin Valley National Park: 

Pin Valley National Park is in Kaza valley in Himachal Pradesh. The distance is 31km from Kaza to Pin valley. It is a beautiful and heavenly feeling which is very calm and glorious to experience. Pin valley national park is at a higher altitude and the temperature makes it inhabitable to many endangered animals like the snow leopard and Siberian Fox etc. The best time to explore its glorious sight is from July to October.

 

  • Dhankar Monastery: 

Dhankar Monastery is at an altitude of 3,894m. A splendid landmark for people interested in Tibetan Buddhism. The village where the monastery is between Kaza and Tabo towns. The distance is 40km from Spiti village and takes an hour to reach. It is an old monastery since the 12th century. The summer season is the most suitable period to explore this sanctuary and its rich history.

 

  • Baralacha La:

Baralacha La is at an altitude of 16,040ft in the Zanskar range. It is an 8 km long pass and is loved by trekkers while intersecting. It has a jaw-dropping view which is relished while travelling. The most suitable period to see the zone is from April to October.

Spiti valley is home to numerous old monasteries having a vast history to explore. There are places with the highest height and rich with natural beauty. It has a great cultural heritage to visit with family and friends. The village, their lifestyle and the local market enjoy the society so near. The winter days are very harsh to explore around.
